Made with Nacional cocoa grown upstream of the Guayas River.
The history of Arriba dates back to the 19th century, with the discovery, by a Swiss chocolatier sailing along the Guayas River in Ecuador, of a unique variety of cocoa.
This cocoa, a Nacional variety with distinctive aromas, was quickly named Arriba, in reference to its region of origin, upstream of the river.
Today, the Nacional variety grown in the Arriba region remains extremely sought after for its exceptionally distinctive cocoa flavor and complex aromas.
